ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday chaired a meeting of the Political Committee and reviewed the overall political situation in the country and media strategy of the incumbent government.
The Prime Minister directed the members of the economic team to highlight the successes achieved by the government in the media.
“All economic indicators are highlighting a positive trend,” the Prime Minister said while lamenting the opposition over spreading propaganda against the government regarding inflation.
Imran Khan said that it was due to the policies of the previous governments-led by opposition parties that the masses now had to suffer from their consequences. “We have overcome the effects of their economic decisions after two years of work and finally the economy is witnessing stability,” he said.
He said that the. “The economic team should disseminate among masses as to how previous governments ruined the economy,” he said, adding that the public gatherings in Swat and Hafizabad once again proved that they enjoy the confidence of the masses.
Meanwhile, Minister for National Food Security Syed Fakhar Imam called on Prime Minister Imran Khan here on Monday and briefed on availability of essential items in the country.
The meeting discussed in detail the introduction of modern seed technology in the agricultural sector and its importance for increase of agri-productions.
The Prime Minister emphasized the need for strict monitoring of timely availability of food items and directed to provide relief to the general public.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan will attend the 20th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of State video conference today (Tuesday).
The invitation to attend was extended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who would chair the meeting, according to the Foreign Office.
Besides the UN Secretary General and the Secretary General of SCO, leaders from all eight SCO member states and four observer states will attend the conference.
The conference will adopt 16 documents including Moscow Declaration reflecting member states’ stance on important regional and international issues.
The SCO’s major objectives include promoting mutual confidence and good neighbourly relations among member states, strengthening regional peace, security and stability, and creating a framework for effective cooperation in political, cultural, trade and economy, science and technology, education, energy, transportation, tourism, environmental protection and other fields.
The platform is an important forum for further enriching deep rooted historical and cultural links with member states, providing these ties a sound economic foundation, and promoting Pakistan as a regional trade and transit corridor.
Since becoming a member in 2017, Pakistan has been actively contributing to the promotion of the SCO’s multi-sectoral agenda through participation in various SCO mechanisms.
Besides Pakistan, SCO’s current membership comprises China, Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. – TLTP
