Ejaz Farooqi opens tournament by hitting the ball

KARACHI: In the opening match of the Professor Ejaz Ahmed Farooqui 20/T Inter-Club Cricket Tournament, organized under the auspices of the Regional Cricket Association Karachi Zone Two, New Sangam Cricket Club clinched victory against Sir Syed Cricket Club in a thrilling last-ball finish, winning by three wickets, says a Press release.
In the final over, New Sangam needed six runs to win. After five balls, they had scored five runs, leveling the score. On the last ball, fast bowler Ali Shaban hit a four to seal the win for his team. Earlier, an opening ceremony was held where Professor Ejaz Ahmed Farooqui, former President of KCCA/KRCA and Member of PCB’s Board of Governors, was the chief guest. In his speech, he said: It is encouraging to see club cricket being organized in Zone Two. I have always strived to promote club cricket in Karachi because strong club cricket leads to strong city cricket. I hope the quality of club cricket improves across all zones and that players are provided with proper facilities to enhance their game. I will continue to play my full role in improving cricket in Karachi. Jameel Ahmed, President of RCA Karachi Zone Two, also addressed the gathering:
On the directives of PCB, we have started the 20/T cricket tournament in Zone Two today. Our goal is to complete this tournament within a month. A total of 32 PCB-registered teams from Zone Two are participating in this tournament. He concluded by thanking the guests for attending. The ceremony was moderated by Shahid Nawab. Distinguished guests present included Visal Ansari, Musarrat Raza, Jameel Ahmed, Prof. Irshad Burney, Prof. Adil Azmat, Shakeel Yamin Kanga, Anees Ahmed, Rehan Siddiqui, Muhammad Afzal Shaari, Ayaz Munshi, Javed Iqbal Bhatti, Saeed Ali, Shah Shafiuddin, Amjad Ali, Muhammad Nizam, Farhan Fareed Raju, Sagheer Ahmed, Fareeduddin, Abdullah Khan Niazi, Shahid Nawab, Rashid Ahmed, Shehzada Moeen, Kashif Ahmed Farooqui, Munawwar Siddiqui, Mehboob Ali, Mirza Waseem Baig, Muhammad Hussain Patni, and Muhammad Shahid Nana.
