Elon Musk to Attend Trump’s First Cabinet Meeting Despite Holding No Official Position

WASHINGTON: Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk is set to attend former U.S. President Donald Trump’s first cabinet meeting, despite not holding any elected or appointed government position, according to British media reports.

During a press briefing on Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed Musk’s participation. When asked about his presence, she stated:

“Yes, he will be attending. I spoke to the president before coming down here. Considering that Elon is working alongside the president and our cabinet secretaries, he will be present to discuss the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and how various cabinet members are identifying waste and inefficiencies in their respective agencies.”

Leavitt did not provide specific details about Musk’s role or authority within the administration. However, when pressed on who is overseeing the Department of Government Efficiency, she responded that a combination of career officials and political appointees are managing its daily operations.

Musk’s reported involvement in Trump’s cabinet discussions has sparked debate, with critics questioning the influence of unelected individuals in government decision-making.
