SHARJAH (UAE): Pakistan Social Center Sharjah successfully hosted a women’s badminton tournament, marking a significant milestone in promoting women’s sports. The event, organized by Zubaidah Khanum and coordinated by head of the organizing committee Raza Abidi, featured competitive matches and entrepreneurial opportunities for women participants.
The tournament, held in collaboration with Global Chen5 group, showcased the athletic skills of sixteen female competitors. Alongside the sporting events, the center provided free stall spaces to seventeen women entrepreneurs, creating a unique platform for business networking and community engagement.
In the closely contested matches, Fazeelat emerged as the champion, with Safia Butt securing the runner-up position and Haya Ali claiming third place. Sajjad A. Khan performed the duties of umpiring who ensured professional standards throughout the competition.
During the prize distribution ceremony, Pakistan Social Center Sharjah President Chaudhry Khalid Hussain, the Chief Guest of the event presented trophies and cash prizes to the winners. Co-sponsor Yasmina Washanna provided additional cash prizes, contributing significantly to the event’s success.
“This tournament represents a positive step toward advancing women’s sports in our community,” said Zubaidah Khanum, chief organizer. “The overwhelming response and enthusiasm from participants demonstrate the need for such initiatives.”
