Farah Acted as Front Person for Imran, Bushra in Al-Qadir Trust Property, Says IO

The investigation into the 190 million pounds scandal involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi has revealed significant details, with Farah Shahzadi, commonly known as Farah Gogi, allegedly acting as their front person. This information was disclosed by Mian Umar Nadeem, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Deputy Director, who recorded his statement in the accountability court on July 30.

    • Inquiry Authorization: December 7, 2022
    • Investigation Commencement: April 28, 2023
  • Cabinet and Assets Recovery:
    • The cabinet had approved the establishment of the Assets Recovery Unit aimed at recovering assets abroad.
    • Secret communications were made with Usman Ahmed, Country Manager of the National Crime Agency, based on instructions from Shahzad Akbar. The National Crime Agency was subsequently able to obtain orders to freeze the proceeds from criminal activities.
  • Land Purchase and Transfer:
    • Between April 4 and April 30, 2019, a total of 458 kanal, 4 marla, and 58 square feet of land was purchased from a private housing society.
    • This land was transferred to Al Qadir Trust University through Zulfi Bukhari.
    • Following the land transfer, meetings occurred between Zulfi Bukhari, Shahzad Akbar, a property tycoon, and the PTI founder.
  • Cabinet Approval and Documentation:
    • On July 11, 2019, a note was written to the PTI founder, indicating that the money belonged to Pakistan.
    • This note was presented and approved in the cabinet meeting on December 3, 2019.
    • The trust deed was witnessed by Zia-ul-Mustafa Naseem.
    • Approval from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Law was not sought.
    • Bushra Bibi signed a donation acknowledgment on March 24, 2021.
  • Fraudulent Transfers and Lack of Evidence:
    • A total of 240 kanals of land was fraudulently transferred under the guise of Al-Qadir Trust to Farah Shahzadi.
    • Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi failed to provide evidence related to the sale of this land.
    • The accused also could not furnish proof of transferring funds to the state of Pakistan.
