Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reaffirms national resolve to defeat terrorism

KARACHI: Chief of Army Staff Syed Asim Munir on Saturday reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to defend the nation against internal and external threats, declaring that the armed forces stand ready to safeguard the country with full strength and unity. He was addressing the passing-out parade of the 152nd PMA Long Course, 71st Integrated Course, 26th Lady Cadet Course, and 37th Technical Graduate Course at the Pakistan Military Academy.
Cadets from Iraq, Palestine, Qatar, Mali, Nepal, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Yemen, Bangladesh, and Nigeria were also among the graduates, highlighting the Academy’s international stature as a centre of military cooperation.
“It is a matter of immense pride to review the passing-out parade at this historic institution,” the Army Chief said. “Since independence, the Pakistan Armed Forces, with the unwavering support of the nation, have ensured the defence of our homeland against all external and internal threats.”
The Army Chief’s address comes at a critical moment for national security. Pakistan is facing a renewed wave of terrorism, with recent attacks in Orakzai and Dera Ismail Khan claiming the lives of several security personnel. The civil and military leadership has responded with a united and resolute message: facilitators and sympathizers of Khawarij militants must surrender or face elimination.
Security analysts say the Army Chief’s speech reflects a broader national shift toward a more decisive counterterrorism strategy. Authorities have vowed to dismantle terror networks, choke their financial channels, and tighten border controls to curb cross-border attacks.
The government has also urged political parties, civil society, and citizens to support this national effort. Officials emphasized that defeating terrorism is not solely a military task but a collective mission to secure Pakistan’s future.
