ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan welcomed the statement of Iranian Foreign Minister Jawad Zarif who has condemned the persecution of Indian Muslims.
In a series of tweet on Tuesday, she said no civilized society or country can support such oppression and there is a need of steps by the western world and Muslim countries to protect the innocent Indian Muslims.
Awan said the world is united in condemning and rising voice against genocide of minorities by the Indian government especially Muslims community.
Earlier, Iran condemned violence against Muslims in India, calling it “senseless thuggery.”
“Iran condemns the wave of organised violence against Indian Muslims. For centuries, Iran has been a friend of India. We urge Indian authorities to ensure the wellbeing of all Indians & not let senseless thuggery prevail,” Foreign Minister Javad Zarif tweeted.
The Iranian foreign minister called on the Indian government to ensure the rule of law and resolve disputes through a peaceful dialogue. – TLTP
