A tragic accident occurred early Monday morning on the Sukkur-Multan Motorway near Malook Wali village in Ghotki, when a passenger bus collided with a trailer truck, resulting in the loss of at least eight lives and injuring seven others.
The bus was traveling from Mansehra to Karachi when the collision took place. According to the Motorway Police, four of the injured are in critical condition. The deceased include women and children, with the bodies and injured individuals transported to Tehsil Hospital Ghotki for necessary medical and legal procedures.
Among the victims identified were Noor Elahi, Shagufta, Rozina, Uneeba, and Hasnat. The police noted that the heirs of the deceased were not present at the hospital.
Rescue operations were hampered by heavy rain, making it difficult to identify the bodies and carry out the rescue activities. After the rescue, the wreckage of both the bus and trailer was moved to a rest area.
In a separate incident on Sunday, four people were killed and 11 others injured when a passenger coach fell into a gorge in Mian Khan village of Katlang Tehsil, Mardan. The injured included women and children.
These incidents follow another deadly road accident on April 17, where six people lost their lives and several others were injured in a collision involving a passenger bus, an oil tanker, and a mini-truck on the Indus Highway near Manjhand.
