KARACHI: Glowing Tributes were paid to the veteran Journalist Syed Mohammad Sufi at a reception organized by the Karachi Press Club, here Tuesday.
Journalists Mahmood Sham, Mazhar Abbas, Saeed Sarbazi, Shoaib Ahmed, Qamar Ahmed, Imran Afsar, Majid Bhatti, Yahya Hussaini, former Cricketers Younus Khan, Sikander Bakht, Iqbal Qasim, Haroon Rasheed, Tauseef Ahmed, Shoaib Ahmed and Olympian Samiullah praised his services in the field of sports journalism.
They said that Syed Mohammad Sufi is an iconic figure who promoted various sports, sportsmen and sports journalists. They lauded the meritorious work of Syed Mohammad Sufi in nurturing sportsmen into stars.
Speaking to a large gathering of journalists and sportsmen, Syed Mohammad Sufi thanked the organisers for honouring him in such a befitting manner.
Syed Muhammad Sufi was jailed during the era of late General Ziaul Haq for the cause of journalism. During his 60 years of journalistic carrier, he worked for various newspapers and magazines. A very large number of journalists currently in the field are under his study.
The veteran journalist was given Life Time Achievement Award by Akhbar-e-Jahan.
Shields were presented by the Press Club and Sports Journalists Association of Sindh.
