Hasan placed on a one-day physical remand in a terrorism case.

ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in the federal capital has extended the physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Information Secretary, Raoof Hasan, by one more day in a terrorism case.

The reserved verdict was announced by ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Supra after hearing Raoof Hasan’s petition seeking bail in the case.

Judge Supra stated that the PTI information secretary would be produced before the court tomorrow. Hasan was present in court today following the completion of his two-day physical remand.

Hasan was taken into custody by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on July 31.

Prosecutor Raja Naveed requested the court for an additional seven-day physical remand of the PTI leader, stating that they need to identify other co-accused individuals.

“Raoof Hasan’s custody is required to gain access to the suspects,” the prosecutor informed the court.

Hasan’s lawyer, Ali Bukhari, argued that no gunpowder was found on his client. “The CTD launched a raid and kept Raoof Hasan in custody for two days,” he said.

Bukhari reiterated that nothing was recovered from the PTI leader and demanded the complainant’s statement be presented.

The lawyer also mentioned that Raoof Hasan is unable to climb stairs and would be at risk without his medication for two days, requesting the court to release him.

In another hearing, Judge Supra also rejected the bail petition of the party’s coordinator for international media, Ahmad Waqas Janjua.

A day earlier, a court granted Hasan bail in the anti-state propaganda case with bail bonds worth Rs50,000.

On July 22, the PTI information secretary and others were taken into custody by the Islamabad Police and subsequently handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
