Among these distinguished personalities, Professor Dr. Shakirullah Khan holds a prominent place as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Chairman of the Department of Archaeology at Hazara University.
For many years, Professor Dr. Shakirullah Khan has played a pivotal role in the academic and research development of Hazara University. Under his leadership, the Department of Archaeology has achieved remarkable success, while research collaborations with national and international institutions have reached new heights. His contributions to archaeology, cultural heritage preservation, and historical research are widely recognized both nationally and globally. During this visit, he toured the World Art History Institute (WAI) in Shanghai, Shanghai International Studies University, the School of Heritage, Information and Archives, Shanghai University, and the Yungang Institute in Datong. Through participation in various academic meetings, seminars, and discussions, he effectively highlighted the scholarly and research contributions of Pakistan, particularly those of Hazara University Mansehra.
During the visit, Professor Dr. Shakirullah Khan, accompanied by his PhD student Mr. Zhu, conducted extensive fieldwork and research at the Yungang Grottoes, Datong City Museum, the historic city of Datong, and several other important sites associated with world cultural heritage. These activities are of great significance for future collaboration in the fields of archaeology and cultural heritage studies. The study tours also opened new avenues for academic and research cooperation between Pakistan and China.
On this occasion, Professor Dr. Shakirullah Khan expressed his sincere gratitude to Professor Lao Zhu and his team at the World Art History Institute, Dr. Yi Bao of Shanghai University, and the experts at the Yungang Institute for their invaluable support in making the visit successful. The meetings resulted in strengthened prospects for future joint research projects, faculty exchange programs, and cooperation in the field of cultural heritage preservation.
