KARACHI: Pakistan moved into the semi-final of T20 Cricket World Cup beating Namibia easily by 45 runs at Shaikh Zayed Khalifa Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
Despite only scoring 29 runs in power play, due to some accurate and lagging line length by the Namibians bowlers, and 59 runs in the first 10 overs, Pakistan in the last 10 overs made 130 runs.
A opening stand of 113 runs between Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan laid the foundation of Pakistan’s innings with dazzling 79 off 50 balls by Mohammad Rizwan who remained unbeaten and a great knock by Babar Azam of 70 runs off 49 deliveries and a quick 32 runs off 16 balls by Mohammad Hafeez contributed to Pakistsn to score 189 for the loss of 2 wickets in the allotted overs. This was the fourth consecutive victory of Pakistan in the round matches.
Chasing a difficult target of 190 to win Namibia made 144 for the loss of 5 wickets. David Wiese remained unbeaten with 43 runs and Williams scored 40 runs. Hasan Ali, Haris Rauf, Shadab and Emad Waseem took a wicket each.
In the other match of the day South Africa comprehensively defeated Bangladesh by 6 wickets.
Scores-Bangladesh 84 all out. South Africa 86 for the loss of 6 wickets.
