KARACHI: CEO Ignite, Asim Shahryar Husain, visited Usman institute of Technology (UIT), with the team of Member of IT ministry Syed Junaid Imam and his team. Where he praised the final year projects efforts by UIT students.
Dr. Shoaib Zaidi (acting Director at UIT) discussed the success story of MERL (Micro Electronics Research lab) LAB. MERL Lab is a project aimed to enable Pakistan to become a recognized global player in the microelectronics industry. Asim praise the idea of MERL and assure to collaborate in future.
Sharing his views about the entrepreneurial journey he emphasized, for a start-up to be successful, it has to interact with different players, including mentors, faculty and other start-ups to ignite their passion, and that’s the objective here. He says, I have had the opportunity to meet some start-ups with interesting ideas today, our goal should be to accelerate and make them self-sustainable eventually, so they become companies that create jobs as well.
Dr. Shoaib Zaidi explains his vision about UIT that UIT is focusing on the development of three key industry verticals: Micro Electronic Research Laboratory-UIT, Digital Transformation Academy (DTA) and sustainability projects. The aim is to facilitate tech-enabled solutions fostering 4th industrial revolution to create commercially successful businesses that help overcome critical challenges in Pakistan.
Asim Shahryar Husain and his team, were given a tour of UIT and the new start up projects of students were demonstrated.
Dr. Shoaib Zaidi also acknowledged Ignite’s continued support and appreciated Hussain’s visit to Usman Institute of Technology where he outlined his vision and mutual areas of collaboration.
