IIOJ&K Assembly Polls No Substitute for Kashmiris’ Rights: Zardari

Former President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, has firmly rejected the Legislative Assembly elections in Indian Illegally-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K), asserting that these elections cannot replace the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. During a meeting with a delegation of Kashmiri migrants at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday, Zardari highlighted the importance of the international community holding the Modi government accountable for ongoing human rights violations in the region.

Zardari condemned the elections as a part of India’s broader strategy to legitimize its occupation of Kashmir. He emphasized that these efforts would neither suppress the Kashmiri freedom struggle nor alter the reality of the illegal occupation. He also accused India of attempting to change the demographic structure of IIOJ&K by marginalizing the Muslim majority and disempowering them within their own land.

The delegation, led by Uzair Ahmed Ghazali, expressed their gratitude for Pakistan’s continuous support of the Kashmiri people’s cause on moral, political, and diplomatic fronts.
