On Wednesday, Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand once again postponed the indictment proceedings of former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in a new Toshakhana case. The case involves allegations of unlawfully acquiring expensive Bulgari jewelry from the Toshakhana.
The court granted Imran Khan’s request for postponement, as he stated that he needed more time to consult with his legal team. Khan emphasized that he had not yet been allowed to discuss the case with his lawyers and would need this time to decide on legal representation.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) lawyers were present in court alongside the accused and their defense teams. The court adjourned the case until October 5, at which time the charge sheet is expected to be presented.
Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were previously arrested on July 13, 2023, in connection with this case.
Separately, Judge Nasir Javed Rana of the Special Accountability Court in Islamabad postponed the hearing of the Al-Qadir Trust reference, which involves a £190 million financial scandal against the former premier and his wife. The hearing was delayed due to the absence of senior lawyers representing the accused. Junior lawyers requested an adjournment as petitions related to the case were scheduled for hearing at the Islamabad High Court the same day.
