KARACHI: The Indonesian Consul General Friday witnessed the ceremony to hand over 15,900 food packages by NDMA officials as part of Indonesian humanitarian aid for Pakistan’s flood victims.
The impact of the 2022 flood disaster in Pakistan is still being felt by number of Pakistani victims, even though most of them have returned to their homes to start their lives again. Of course, this will not escape the attention of the government of Pakistan through NDMA, which continues to distribute aid, especially assistance coming from friendly countries, including Indonesia.
The NDMA Pakistan will distribute assistance in the form of Staple Food Packages originating from financial assistance from Indonesia that was received by the Pakistani government in 2022 which will be handed over to flood victims in the Provinces of Sindh and Balochistan.
“There are 15,900 food packages with a total weight of 625.19 kg consisting of Wheat, rice, pulses, cooking oil, milk, tea, salt, chilli powder and other staples, which will be distributed to flood victims in 6 districts in Sindh Province and 3 districts in Balochistan Province,” said Muhammad Muazzam Zaman, NDMA representative at the handover event held at the NDMA Warehouse Karachi.
In his remarks, the Indonesian Consul General Dr June Kuncoro expressed his appreciation to NDMA Pakistan for its performance in dealing with victims and the impact of flooding in Pakistan. The distribution of aid in the form of staple foods involving representatives of the Indonesian government is a good form of accountability and transparency for the humanitarian aid received by the Pakistani government.
