Iran Accused of Supplying Ballistic Missiles to Russia for Ukraine War

Western allies, including the United States, Britain, France, and Germany, claim that Iran has supplied short-range ballistic missiles to Russia for use in the ongoing war in Ukraine. These accusations, if true, mark a significant escalation in Iran’s involvement in the conflict. The missiles in question are reported to be Fath-360 models, surface-to-surface ballistic missiles with a range of up to 120 kilometers (75 miles). However, Iran has categorically rejected these claims, calling them “completely baseless and false” and criticizing what it sees as Western hypocrisy.

The missiles, if deployed, could assist Russia in managing its offensive in Ukraine by targeting areas closer to the front lines. The Fath-360 missile has been compared to the US-made HIMARS systems used by Ukrainian forces, though it has a shorter range and payload. Despite the allegations, no conclusive evidence has been provided, and the missile has not yet been observed in use on the battlefield.

Tehran continues to deny involvement, while the Western nations have imposed fresh sanctions on Iranian entities, escalating tensions further.
