KARACHI: The Cultural Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Karachi, hosted an exclusive private screening of the highly acclaimed Iranian film In the Arms of the Tree (Dar Aghooshe Derakht) at Cinepax Cinemas, Ocean Mall on Thursday. The event brought together cinema enthusiasts, cultural figures, and media representatives to witness a masterpiece of storytelling and cinematography.
Dr. Saeid Talebinia, Director of the Iranian Cultural Center in Karachi, welcomed guests to the screening, emphasizing the power of film as a bridge between cultures. He expressed gratitude for the warm reception of Iranian cinema in Pakistan and highlighted the deep cultural ties between the two nations.
Directed by Babak Lotfi Khajepasha, In the Arms of the Tree has garnered international acclaim and is Iran’s official submission for Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards. The film delves into the emotional complexities of Kimia and Farid’s troubled marriage, exploring its devastating impact on their children. With compelling performances and a hauntingly beautiful narrative, the movie captivated the audience, leaving a profound emotional impact.
The Karachi screening marks the beginning of a nationwide release starting January 10, 2025. Cinephiles in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Quetta, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Gujranwala, and other cities can now experience the soul-stirring drama that has moved audiences around the world.
