JERUSALEM/TEHRAN – June 6, 2025:
Tensions between Israel and Iran have intensified dramatically following a massive wave of Israeli airstrikes on Iranian soil, targeting military and nuclear facilities. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared the attacks a “very successful” start to a prolonged campaign, while Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards have vowed “decisive retaliation,” warning that Israel has invited a “harsh and painful end” upon itself.
Netanyahu: ‘This Was Just the Beginning’
In a video address on Friday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed the strikes on Iran as a major success and promised that the campaign would continue.
“We carried out a very successful opening strike, and with God’s help, we will achieve much more,” Netanyahu said.
“These strikes mark just the beginning. Operations will continue for many days.”
The Israeli military confirmed that 200 fighter jets participated in the initial wave, striking about 100 targets linked to Iran’s military and nuclear infrastructure, including the Natanz enrichment facility and sites in Tehran.
Revolutionary Guards: Israel Will Pay a Heavy Price
In a strongly worded statement, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the death of its commander Hossein Salami in the Israeli airstrikes and vowed swift retaliation.
“Israel will pay a heavy price for this aggression. Our response will be decisive and far-reaching,” the IRGC said.
“This attack was executed with full knowledge and backing of the wicked rulers in the White House and the terrorist U.S. regime.”
The IRGC warned that Israel’s leadership had chosen a “harsh and painful end” for the Zionist regime by launching attacks on sovereign Iranian territory.
The Regional Crisis Deepens
As the conflict escalates, global concern mounts over a potential broader regional war. Iran has already responded with a barrage of nearly 100 drones launched at Israeli territory, according to the Israeli military. Meanwhile, civilian casualties and damage to residential areas have been reported in both countries.
Oman, Pakistan, and other nations have condemned the strikes as reckless and dangerous, urging international intervention to prevent a larger conflagration.
