United Front Against PECA Bill

In a statement, the JAC declared that all its member associations will actively participate in PFUJ’s protest campaign, condemning the legislation as unconstitutional. They vowed to pursue both public and legal avenues to oppose the bill.

The JAC has begun mobilizing support from civil society, human rights organizations, lawyers’ associations, and other stakeholders to form a collective front against the bill. Furthermore, consultations with legal experts are nearing completion to challenge the legislation in court.

PFUJ’s Call to Action

The PFUJ has also rejected the amendments, arguing that they go against the spirit of Pakistan’s Constitution. The union has called on journalist organizations across the country to stage protests today at their respective press clubs at 3 PM.

“We urge all journalist unions to demonstrate unity and send a strong message of rejection to the government and the authorities behind these amendments,” said a PFUJ spokesperson.
