KARACHI: Legendary cricketer and former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, Javed Miandad, has officially recommended the esteemed Civil Award (Tamgha-i-Imtiaz) for renowned medical professional and philanthropist, Dr. Nasir Saleem Nasaka. In a formal letter addressed to the President of Pakistan, Miandad highlighted Dr. Nasaka’s unparalleled dedication to serving humanity, particularly his selfless contributions in providing free treatment to cancer patients and individuals suffering from incurable diseases.
Dr. Nasaka, a gold medalist and a distinguished Ayurveda Charya, is the only medical professional in Pakistan specializing in the treatment of late-stage cancer and other complex diseases such as thalassemia, skin psoriasis, arthritis, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, vitiligo, and type 1 diabetes. His relentless commitment to medical welfare has seen him operate self-funded clinics in North Nazimabad, DHA, and Shah Faisal Colony, Karachi, where he covers all expenses, including medicines and staff salaries, without relying on external funding.
Miandad, in his letter, emphasized that Dr. Nasaka’s humanitarian work has provided a beacon of hope for countless patients who had exhausted all conventional treatment options. He urged the President to endorse and direct the Cabinet Division for the conferment of the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz to Dr. Nasaka on March 23, 2025, under Article 259(2) of the Constitution of Pakistan, as recognition of his exceptional services to society.
“Dr. Nasaka’s selflessness and unwavering commitment to the well-being of the underprivileged deserve national recognition. His efforts symbolize true philanthropy and inspire others to contribute to the welfare of humanity,” Miandad stated in his letter.
The cricketing legend’s endorsement underscores the significance of acknowledging and honoring individuals who dedicate their lives to serving others. The recommendation, if approved, will not only celebrate Dr. Nasaka’s invaluable contributions but also encourage a culture of humanitarian service across the nation.
