KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Balochistan chief Hidayat ur Rehman has urged the government to ensure basic constitutional rights for the people of Balochistan, warning that the province’s law and order situation is rapidly deteriorating.
Addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club on Monday, the JI leader said that Balochistan, despite being Pakistan’s largest province by area, continues to suffer from escalating violence, frequent road blockades, and enforced disappearances, which have severely disrupted daily life.
Hidayat ur Rehman said that the Baloch people are not demanding anything extraordinary but are simply seeking their fundamental rights. “The situation is worsening with each passing day due to insecurity and neglect,” he added.
Highlighting the province’s vast natural wealth, he stated that Balochistan possesses mineral resources worth an estimated $1,000 billion, yet the majority of its population continues to live below the poverty line, while Rs. 20 billion spend on security.
