ISLAMABAD: The Journalists Panel has swept the National Press Club Islamabad elections held here Friday, January 28, 2022. The results were announced by the Election Committee headed by Asim Qadeer Rana, Other members of the Election Committee are: Tariq Ali Virk, Nasir Abbas Naqvi, and Ehtisham ul Haq.
Results on the seats of Governing Body are to be announced later.
Anwar Raza bagged the highest 1017 votes in these elections and became the new President of the NPC. The main rival Azad Journalist Panel candidate Shakeel Ahmed Qarar on this seat was behind with 611 votes while Javed Malik (159 votes), Azhar Syed (106 votes), Khizar Hayat Kalasra (14 votes), Shehzad Raza Paracha (13 votes), and Syed Ishtiaq Mustafa Bukhari (6 votes) were the other candidates for this seat.
The Vice-Presidents (Men) who won their seats are: Azhar Jatoi (980 votes), A. Nazir Charan (839 votes), and Ghazanfar Abbas (825 votes). Other candidates on these seats were Khawar Nawaz Raja (704 votes), Obaid Abrar Khan (492 votes), Hassan Khan (456 votes), Nawabzada Khursheed (229 votes), Ahmed Adeel Sarfraz (201 votes), Ghulam Nabi Yousafzai (183 votes), Zeeshan Ali (168 votes), Ihsan ul Haq Haqqani (145 votes), Mudassar Hussain Rajpoot (125 votes), and Fida Muhammad Khan (65 votes).
Myra Imran who bagged 939 votes was elected to the Vice-President (Woman) seat. Other contestants on this seat were: Irfana Yasir (467 votes), Farah Naz (274 votes), and Farah Meh Jabeen (175 votes).
Khalil Ahmed Raja won on the seat for Secretary bagging 823 votes. Other contestants on this seat were: Dr. Sadia Kamal (771 votes), Abdul Hameed Langraw (240 votes), and Abid Hashmi (45 votes).
The Joint Secretaries (Men) who won their seats are: Muhammad Aslam Lurka (882 votes), Waqar Abbasi (805 votes), and Tallat Farooq (791 votes). Other contestants on these seats were: Khalid Malik (472 votes), Akram Abid Qureshi (439 votes), Ghulamud Din (377 votes), Farhat Turabi (332 votes), Rafi Shahzad Bhutto (270 votes), Muhammad Javed Altaf (200 votes), Syed Zeeshan Ali Shah (154 votes), Waseem Ahmed Abbasi (152 votes), and Rustam Ejaz Satti (137 votes).
Shakila Jalil who bagged 949 votes is elected as Joint Secretary (Woman’s seat). Other contestants are: Mahwish Fakhar (493 votes), Saima Bhatti (245 votes), and Nuzhat Nazar (118 votes).
Nayyar Ali has been elected as Finance Secretary gaining 740 votes. Other contestants are: Usman Khan (683 votes), Fauzia Kalsoom Rana (452 votes), and Muhammad Ishtiaq (50 votes).
