RAWALPINDI: Former President RIUJ, anchorperson of GTV’s prime time program Red Zone, columnist and analyst Ali Raza Alvi has said that journalists can get rid of difficulties only by uniting.
Addressing a function of Rawalpindi Crime, Courts and City Reporters Association as the chief guest, he said that the compulsion of the situation demanded that journalists should be united at all costs. He said some people beautifully use us against each other for their nefarious and sinister interests and we become busy in distributing certificates to each other of being small, big, real and fake journalists.
He said none other than our field i.e. journalism call their own people as incompetent and anti-national people or even speak against it. He said the journalistic community has to identify who wants to achieve their nefarious goals by promoting a fight amongst themselves.
He said that a journalist should not leave following the truth irrespective of the circumstances that who likes or dislikes what he says. He said that journalism is the mission of making the people aware of the truth and if he does not have the courage to support the truth, then he should not pollute himself becoming a supporter of lies.
President RIUJ Amir Sajjad Syed, President RCCA Shahid Malik, Babar Malik, Waqar Kazmi, Shehzad Malik, Rana Zahid, Tariq Shabbir, Iqbal Malik, Zulfiqar Baig and other international broadcasters including BBC, Reuters, AFP and Daily Jang, dozens of journalists from Geo, Dawn, ARY, Express, Dunya, weekly newspapers and frontline YouTube users and social media activists were present on the occasion.
Fateha was also offered for the sister of senior journalist Zulfiqar Baig on the occasion.
