KARACHI: The First Commissioner Karachi Tobacco Control Art Exhibition organized at Sadequain Art Gallery Frere Hall Karachi, which aimed to commemorate one of World No Tobacco Day events by highlighting its worst impacts on human health and also on our environment through Poster/Art Work and Short Videos.
The Event was arranged by the joint collaboration of “Tobacco Smoke Free Karachi” Project of the Ministry of NHSRC and the Tobacco Control Desk Commissioner Office Karachi.
Muhammad Iqbal Memon Commissioner Karachi Division graced the event as a Chief Guest, whereas Abid Qamar Sheikh Assistant Commissioner General to Commissioner Karachi including Deputy Commissioners East and South, heads of educational institutions, members of civil society, journalists including other officers of provincial government attended the event and praised the efforts of “Tobacco Smoke Free Karachi” Project and Commissioner Office Karachi for highlighting the worst impact of tobacco through the exhibition and by engaging young generation.
It was learned that more than 500 students participated in the exhibition including private/public educational institutions like Aligarh University, Karachi Schools of Arts, Sir Syed University and so on and so forth. So, the exhibition is featuring a diverse set of students’ artworks of all age groups.
Out of 300 paintings, 55 paintings have been selected for the display in the exhibition and further 3 will be selected for the first three positions.
Commissioner Karachi awarded shields to the first, second and third position winners of the exhibition who have successfully conveyed the message of tobacco control through their poster artwork and short video.
While Speaking on the occasion Commissioner Karachi stated that, I am sure this event would ultimately play a critical role in achieving progress in raising awareness and achieving our ultimate goal of Tobacco Smoke Free Karachi.
