Karachi: The city’s uncontrolled heavy vehicle movement and reckless driving have claimed three more lives, as separate traffic accidents left motorcyclists dead in different areas of Karachi.
In a horrific incident near Jauhar Mor, a speeding cement mixer truck fatally struck 25-year-old Abdul Saboor, sparking public outrage. Enraged locals set the truck on fire, prompting police intervention. Authorities later arrested the truck driver from the scene.
Meanwhile, another dumper truck accident in Liaquatabad No. 10 claimed a motorcyclist’s life, while in Keamari, a car collided with a bike, leaving another rider dead.
Rising Death Toll on Karachi’s Roads
According to official figures, Karachi has recorded at least 207 traffic-related deaths in 2025, with 2,623 people injured. The role of heavy vehicles in these tragedies is alarming, with 64 fatalities linked to them, including:
- 17 by dumpers
- 22 by trailer trucks
- 12 by water tankers
- 13 by passenger buses
Despite repeated claims by traffic authorities and the city administration about improving road safety, fatal crashes remain a daily occurrence.
As Karachi’s traffic crisis deepens, citizens continue to demand stricter enforcement of traffic laws, designated heavy vehicle routes, and improved road safety measures to prevent further loss of life.
