Police in Karachi have filed a case against a woman driver involved in a fatal traffic accident that resulted in the deaths of two people and left five others injured on the service road near Karsaz.
On Monday, at around 6:30 pm, a woman driving an SUV lost control of the vehicle and ran over a bike, killing a man and his daughter and injuring another person. The incident occurred near the Muslim League House on Karsaz Road.
The woman, identified as Natasha Danish Iqbal, reportedly lost control of her Toyota Land Cruiser, registration number BY-0033, which is registered in the name of GUL AHMED WIND POWER LTD. The SUV collided with a motorcycle ahead of her, leading to the tragic deaths of 62-year-old Imran Arif and his 23-year-old daughter Aamna.
Additionally, five others, including 55-year-old Abdul Salam, sustained injuries in the accident. Natasha also suffered a head injury during the incident.
The case was registered at the Bahadurabad Police Station under FIR No. 229/2024, citing charges under Sections 320, 337G, 279, and 427 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The complainant, Imtiaz Arif, is the younger brother of the deceased Imran Arif.
Natasha’s vehicle, which was reportedly speeding, struck the motorcycle ridden by Imran Arif and his daughter, leading to their immediate deaths. The impact also caused injuries to five others nearby.
Natasha was promptly apprehended by the police with the help of local citizens and taken to Jinnah Hospital for medical evaluation, where a CT scan was performed.
Following the incident, a large crowd gathered at the scene, surrounding Natasha until law enforcement arrived. Police and Rangers were dispatched to secure the area and subsequently transported Natasha to Bahadurabad Police Station.
Her overturned SUV was also towed to the station using a crane. The accident also caused significant damage to a nearby car, further contributing to the chaotic scene that unfolded after the collision.
The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
