King Charles offers Prince Harry some relief

King Charles is reportedly planning a significant gesture for Prince Harry by bringing the Invictus Games back to the UK, according to a source close to the monarch.

Prince Harry, who founded the Invictus Games during his time as a working royal, has continued his involvement with the event even after stepping back from royal duties. Last month, Harry announced that the Invictus Games will return to the UK in 2027. The inaugural games were held in London in 2014, and earlier this year, Harry hosted an anniversary event at St. Paul’s Cathedral to mark the occasion.

Although no Royal Family members attended the anniversary event, UK-based royals may participate in the 2027 games in Birmingham. Birmingham was chosen over Washington, DC, as the host city.

King Charles, who attended the first Invictus Games in his former role as Prince of Wales, is expected to attend the Birmingham event. A friend of the King told The Times, “I think he would see it as a positive thing to attend. He wouldn’t want to appear punitive.”

Meghan Markle’s attendance at the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham is uncertain unless security for Harry improves. In July, Harry expressed concerns about his UK security, leading him to avoid bringing Meghan back. However, she is expected to join him at the 2025 Invictus Games in Canada.

Recently, during a trip to Colombia, Harry and Meghan met with Invictus Games athletes. Harry participated in a volleyball match, and Meghan praised the athletes, calling them “incredible to watch.”
