KP Govt to File FIR Against Islamabad IGP Over Damage to KP House: Adviser Saif

Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, Adviser to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister on Information, announced on Thursday that the KP government has directed the Advocate General to file a First Information Report (FIR) against the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad and other officials. The action follows alleged ransacking and damage caused to KP House in Islamabad.

During his visit to the Peshawar Press Club, Saif detailed that police actions resulted in extensive property damage, including broken doors, destroyed furniture, and damage to vehicles. The financial losses reportedly amounted to millions of rupees. Additionally, he accused the police of harassing KP government officials, provincial assembly members, and their families during the incident.

Saif condemned the actions of Islamabad Police, stating that the KP government would not tolerate such violations and would pursue all legal avenues. He criticized the federal government’s lack of cooperation in addressing issues of national security, including terrorism, emphasizing the deep-rooted impact of decades-long policies on the current state of security in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The adviser highlighted the sacrifices made by the Pakistan Army and KP Police in fighting terrorism, and criticized the federal government for failing to provide adequate resources and support. He pointed out lapses in areas like border security, regulation of illegal SIM cards, unregistered vehicles, money laundering, and cyber security, attributing these to a lack of coherent federal strategy.

Saif also raised concerns over the federal government’s failure to establish direct communication with Afghanistan, stressing the importance of engagement to address critical security threats effectively.

In a separate critique, Saif took aim at the leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN), specifically Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, for deleting their posts about Donald Trump following his recent electoral victory. He accused the PMLN leadership of consistently seeking external support and criticized their involvement in U.S. affairs despite having no direct stake in the matter.
