KARACHI: Umeed by LADIESFUND, an initiative of Dawood Global Foundation, has continued its breast cancer awareness and empowerment programme at the SINA Clinic in Ittehad Korangi, encouraging women to make breast health an informed and active part of their everyday lives.
The session focused on helping participants understand their breast health, become familiar with their bodies and recognize changes that may warrant medical attention. Through practical guidance and open discussion, the training emphasized the importance of early detection, overcoming hesitation around breast health conversations and seeking professional medical advice when concerns arise.
For many women, discussing breast health can feel uncomfortable or unfamiliar. By bringing awareness sessions into neighbourhood clinics, Umeed by LADIESFUND aims to create accessible opportunities for women to ask questions, build confidence and gain knowledge that can support informed decisions about their health.
“Breast cancer awareness becomes meaningful when women feel comfortable asking questions and understand how to put what they learn into practice. Through our work with Umeed by LADIESFUND, we want to make conversations about breast health less intimidating and encourage women to pay attention to their bodies without fear or embarrassment. Sometimes, having the right information and the confidence to act on it can make all the difference.” – Sabeen Barkat, Umeed by LADIESFUND Team Member
