KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Laeeq Ahmed has assured the business community for any possible support for betterment and welfare of the city while addressing a meeting arranged by Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI). President of KATI Saleem-uz-Zaman, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Chairman & CEO KITE Zubair Chhaya, Senior Vice President Zaki Sharif, Vice President Nighat Awan, Masood Naqi, Zahid Saeed, Gulzar Firoz and others also addressed the occasion, says a Press release.
Administrator Karachi Laeeq Ahmed said that CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah has taken many initiatives to resolve financial problems of KMC, he provided funds for the payments of salaries and pensions of KMC and also given back some of taxes from SBCA to back us in KMC.
He said that KMC will plant more than 70 thousand plants in its upcoming drive and we invite business community to support this drive. He confirmed that two new graveyards would be established in the city with the private partnership, for this 22 and 11 acres of land has been acquired and this would be utilized for graveyard with Silani Welfare and JDC respectively.
He also shared that Hawks-bay beach would be rebuilt and renovated with public private partnership.
President of KATI Saleem-uz-Zaman said that business community is ready to play its role in the development of the city but we need assurances from the management as we recently experienced very unwelcoming attitude of administration regarding roundabouts carnage. He mentioned that KATI has played a leading role in the reinstatement of gas supply to the industry in Karachi, our former President Zahid Saeed had done tremendous efforts in this regard.
He also urged the Administrator to provide assistance for urban forest proposal of Zahid Saeed in Malir river area. He mentioned that KITE had proved an effective development model for industrial areas and it should be adopted on permanent basis.
Zubair Chhaya briefed the Administrator about the problems of Korangi industrial area. He said that industrial area should be dealt separately as the elected representatives only focus on voters and constituency. He said that on our complaints regarding roundabouts mishandling by the Administration, Administrator has responded timely.
Administrator Karachi assured that urban foresting proposal would be considered and we are ready to support this project. He also handed over the notification by KMC for naming 3000 road after Patron in Chief of KATI S.M Muneer. Former President Masood Naqi and Zahid Saeed also briefed the administrator.
