KARACHI: President Landhi Association of Trade and Industry Siraj Saadi Muno urges from the government to resolve their issues which sometimes hinders exports when he was addressing in LATI and Karachi water and sewerage board (KWSB) meeting on Wednesday held at Gul Ahmed Textile Mills II, Karachi.
Highlighting the role of LATI in national economy he said that more than 400,000 employees works in various companies mainly engaged in exports. Goods produced in Landhi earn more than US $ 2 billion in foreign exchange, which is about 10% of Pakistan’s total exports.
Shahzaman Secretary General presented the progress of LATI during the meeting. He said that LATI is making efforts to protect the rights of its members and create a healthy business environment in Landhi Industrial Area.
Sharing the recent development he informed that Fire Station having cost of PKR 14,000,000/- donated by member companies of LATI. Our Fire Station is equipped with 2 fire tenders with the support of Fire Brigade Department of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and station operates 24/7 to deal with any untoward incident of fire in Landhi residential area or Industrial Area as well as Karachi city.
To ensure security, Shahzaman said that effective police patrolling is provided with financial support from member companies and recently six CG 125 Honda Motorcycles hand over to our police paroling unit to beat street crimes.
President Siraj Saadi Mano during the meeting discussed about the various issues of Landhi Industrial Area including Roding Machine, Suction Machine, and Winching Machine for Cleaning Sewage System, Designation of a focal person for close coordination with KW&SB, implementation of sanitation work, and resolution of other issues , Pre-monsoon cleaning of drains and replacement of new Sewerage System in Landhi Industrial Area.
Syed Salahuddin Ahmed MD KW&SB assured his full support and nominated a focal person for LATI who will be responsible for close coordination, monitoring the implementation of sanitation work and will constituted a committee within KW&SB to review the sanitation requirements before the onset of monsoon season. Another committee has been constituted by MD, KW&SB to prepare PC-1 (Project Concept Paper) for development of new sewerage system.
At the end of the meeting, KW&SB Managing Director Syed Salahuddin Ahmed and Chief Operating Officer Enjr. Asadullah Khan handed over the suction machine and rodding machine to Siraj Sadiq Mano President LATI having objective to expand and improve drainage facilities in Landhi and to address the specific drainage challenges faced by the industrial area by ensuring an effective and efficient drainage system.
