Love Guru Beats Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5 at UK Box Office

Love Guru, a Pakistani romantic comedy produced by Humayun Saeed and Salman Iqbal, has made an impressive mark at the box office, outperforming Bollywood’s Housefull 5 in the UK during its second weekend.

The film, written by Vasay Chaudhary and directed by Nadeem Baig, boasts a stellar cast including Ahmed Ali Butt, Mahira Khan, Humayun Saeed, Mani Liaquat, Javed Sheikh, Ainie Zaidi, and Ramsha Khan. With its light-hearted humor, family-friendly tone, and star-studded ensemble, Love Guru has struck a chord with audiences both in Pakistan and overseas.

Box Office Success

According to a recent box office report, Love Guru earned an estimated PKR 55 crore worldwide within two weeks of its release. In the UK, it pulled in £75,000 during its second weekend, outperforming Bollywood’s Housefull 5, which earned £56,000 in the same period.

As reported by Diva Magazine, the total UK earnings of Love Guru have now crossed £266,000 (over PKR 10 crore) in just nine days—a remarkable feat for a Pakistani film in a market traditionally dominated by Bollywood.

Social Media Buzz

Fans across social media are celebrating the film’s success:

“Just watched Love Guru a couple of days ago and honestly, it is worth watching,” said one viewer.

Love Guru is an excellent movie. I loved it,” commented another.

“It’s decent and family-oriented and has no vulgar scenes like Bollywood films,” praised another user.

However, not everyone agrees with the comparisons. One user remarked:

“It’s unfair to compare Love Guru with an Akshay Kumar movie. He does 24 films a year.”

Another skeptical voice said:

“We are not fools. Sorry, that was a Bollywood movie, not a Lollywood one, which can be beaten.”

Yet, supporters clapped back with comments suggesting that the Bollywood formula is no longer what it used to be:

“Bollywood movies aren’t the same anymore. Audiences are looking for substance, not just star power.”

A Milestone for Pakistani Cinema

The success of Love Guru marks a significant achievement for Pakistani cinema in the international market. With its clean content, engaging script, and wide appeal, the film has not only dominated locally but has also proven that Lollywood can compete—and even triumph—on foreign turf.

As the film continues its run, all eyes will be on whether it can maintain momentum and break more records in the coming weeks.
