ISLAMABAD: Another feather in the cap of renowned journalist Shakoor Tahir as his contribution towards the development of Mass Communication in Urdu is recognized in the shape of M.Phil research thesis on his outstanding services.
Shakoor Tahir is the first broadcast journalist of the country on whom M.Phil research thesis has been written, for his services as Director, Controller, Editor, Reporter, Producer, Script writer and expert of Mass Communication.
Student Muhammad Rizwan Tabbasum of Rifah University Faisalabad campus, Department of Urdu, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Muhammad Asif Awan has written the research thesis during a period of two years after rigorous research.
The thesis delves with the 50 years of journalistic and professional performance of Shakoor Tahir.
In the 400-page write-up, Shakoor Tahir’s journalistic and creative work pertaining to mass communication was critically examined in the research.
The researcher surfed through the archives of PTV, and interviewed 60 prominent personalities from different walks of life, including renowned journalists, academicians, diplomats, writers, critics, producers, newscasters, anchors and experts of mass communications.
Research thesis is being published in the form of a book by Jamhoori Publications.
During his professional carrier, Shakoor Tahir travelled to 60 countries for coverage of international events. Some of his major reporting events are OIC Summits, SAARC Conferences, and Bonn Conference on Afgahanistan.
He excelled in hard news reporting and was known as authority on court reporting.
He was a pioneer of on-camera reporting in PTV.
