ISLAMABAD: The 49th martyrdom anniversary of 1971 War hero, Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider, was observed on Sunday.
Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed was awarded Nishan-e-Haider, Pakistan’s highest military gallantry award, for his valour and bravery during the 1971 war.
Pakistan Army paid glowing tribute to Maj Shabbir Shaheed, who was also recipient of Sword from Pakistan Military Academy Kakul and Honour and Sitara-e-Jurat in 1965.
Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major General Babar Iftikhar in a tweet said that Major Shabbir Sharif was a symbol of valour and patriotism. His heroic actions in 1965 and 1971 wars remind us that it’s not numbers but faith, devotion and courage in adversity which make nations triumph, said the ISPR
A wreath-laying ceremony was held to pay homage to Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider for supreme sacrifice in the line of duty, at his monument in Lahore on Sunday. According to the ISPR, Major General Raza Aizad laid a floral wreath on behalf of Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
The ceremony was attended by the relatives of Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed. – TLTP
