Medical Jet Crashes in Philadelphia, Killing All Six on Board

A tragic plane crash occurred in Northeast Philadelphia on Friday evening when a Learjet 55, operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, went down shortly after takeoff from Northeast Philadelphia Airport. The aircraft was en route to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri.

Authorities confirmed that all six people on board—a pediatric patient, her mother, and four crew members—were killed in the crash.

Fiery Impact in a Densely Populated Area

The crash happened near Cottman Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard, close to Roosevelt Mall, a busy commercial and residential area. The jet exploded on impact, sending a massive fireball into the sky and causing severe damage to multiple homes and vehicles. Surveillance and dashcam footage captured the horrifying moment.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, evacuating residents and battling fires. At least six people on the ground were hospitalized, though three have since been released.

Investigation Underway

Preliminary reports indicate that the aircraft lost radar contact just 30 seconds after takeoff. Weather conditions at the time included light rain, fog, and wind gusts up to 30 mph, which may have played a role in the accident.

This crash comes just two days after another major aviation disaster near Washington, D.C., where a passenger jet and a military helicopter collided, killing 67 people.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched an investigation into the Philadelphia crash. Officials have urged the public to avoid the area as recovery efforts and inquiries continue.
