Mitha organizes PCAA to celebrate the 22 years of Nawa-e-Jang in the U.K.

LONDON: An event held in London, Journalist and Editor-in-chief of the Daily Nawa-e-Jang, Asif Saleem Mitha, organized the Pakistan Community Achievement Awards (PCAA) to celebrate 22 years of Nawa-e-Jang in the UK The ceremony honored individuals from the Pakistani community residing across the UK for their outstanding services in fields such as journalism, music, education, human rights, community, charity work, and business, says a Press release.

Among those awarded for their contributions to journalism were Jang-Geo’s Aurangzeb Chaudhry, the late WadoodMushtaq, ZahidMirza, Waqar Babar Mughal, WaseemKazmi, GhulamHussainAwan, Wajahat Ali Khan, and Abbas Malik, who received medals and certificates of recognition.

The event was attended by Members of Parliament Ruth Cadbury and Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, former Mayor of Slough ChaudhryNazir, Chaudhry Shafiq, Rashid Butt, Mayor of Brent Tariq Dar, former Mayors of Hounslow Afzal Kayani and Samia Chaudhry, former Mayor of Brent Arshad Butt, Deputy Mayor of Hounslow Malik Shakeel Akram, other councilors, and distinguished figures from various fields such as education, journalism, and law.

The participants appreciated the individuals who have been dedicating their time to social services for many years in this busy Western society.

During the event, legendary singer Ustad Rajab Ali was presented with a Sindhi topi (cap) and Ajrak (traditional Sindhi shawl) by Karachi Press Club Senior Vice President Mushtaq Sohail, along with Mayor of Brent Tariq Dar.

Asif Saleem Mitha was also awarded Karachi Press Club membership card and a certificate. The host, Asif Saleem Mitha, presented commemorative shields to the special guests.

Prominent personalities from the Asian community who contributed to fields like music, charity, human rights, and education were awarded as well. In the field of music, awards were presented to Charles Frank, Muhammad Aslam, and Dr. Mariam Shireen Madhu.

In community and charity work, the recipients included Naeem Tahir (AIHL), Al-Mustafa Welfare Trust, Dr. Amjad Riaz (Brent Central Mosque), Haji Muhammad Siddique (Cricklewood Mosque & Islamic Centre), Halal Food Authority’s Muhammad Iqbal Shafi, and Chaudhry Abdul Majeed (PWA Hounslow).

Amanullah Khan and Raja Sikander Khan were honored for raising their voices on human rights and the issues of Kashmir and Palestine.

In the field of education, the awards were given to Ali Naveed Qureshi, Amanat Anjum, Dr. Mateen Khan (CCE), and Talib Hussain (Hays College).

In recognition of their successful businesses, awards were presented to Raja Irfan Anwar, AbidHussain, Ishtiaq Chaudhry, Major (Retd) Nawaz Malik, Muhammad Imran Idris (Lahore), Mr. Nadeem, Muhammad Ahmed (Lahore), Naheed Randhawa, Syed Saeed Shah (Original Biryani), Sajid Khan (Khaba), Nasir Ali, Farzok Hassan, Muhammad Zafar Gujjar, and Zahid Raja.

During the event, Nawai-e-Jang London and PCAA also awarded gold medals and certificates to 40 journalists from across the UK in recognition of their contributions to journalism.

In the closing remarks, Asif Saleem Mitha thanked all the special and distinguished guests especially from Karachi Pakistan Karachi Press Club Senior Vice President Mushtaq Sohail and Aslam Essani CEO Daily Millat Gujarati, and PCAA presented both guests with gold medals and awards for their contributions to journalism.
