In response to the escalating wave of terrorism in Balochistan, the federal government has made significant changes in the command of the Balochistan Police.
Abdul Khaliq Sheikh, the former Inspector General (IG) of Balochistan Police, has been transferred and directed to report to the Establishment Division. Sheikh, a Grade-21 officer, had been serving as the IG Balochistan Police under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973, a position typically reserved for a Grade-22 officer.
Moazzam Jah Ansari, a Grade-22 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan, has been appointed as the new IG Balochistan Police. Before this appointment, Ansari was serving as the Commandant of the Frontier Constabulary (FC). His previous experience includes serving as the IG of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and a prior tenure as IG Balochistan Police.
The federal cabinet has approved these postings and transfers, with the Establishment Division issuing the official notifications. The appointment of Moazzam Jah Ansari as IG Balochistan is effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice.
