The federal government is expected to suspend mobile services nationwide from Saturday evening in response to PTI’s planned November 24 protest in Islamabad, according to Interior Ministry sources.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered strict measures to prevent demonstrators from entering the capital. Police vans and detention facilities have been prepared, with Section 144 imposed for two months.
Over 8,000 additional police personnel, along with Rangers and FC, are being deployed. Roadblocks and heavy police presence have been reported on motorways and GT Road at key points, causing massive traffic disruptions.
The government aims to enforce Islamabad High Court (IHC) directives, which restrict PTI protests to designated areas under the peaceful assembly law.
PTI’s decision to proceed with the protest follows a breakdown in talks with the government after its demand for Imran Khan’s release by Friday was rejected.
