Musk Donates Over $250 Million to Back Trump’s Presidential Campaign

WASHINGTON: Elon Musk spent more than a quarter of a billion dollars to support Donald Trump’s presidential bid, according to recent filings, highlighting the significant influence the billionaire entrepreneur had on this year’s White House race.

Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, contributed $259 million to various groups backing Trump’s campaign, based on newly released Federal Election Commission (FEC) documents.

This massive financial commitment positions Musk as one of the largest donors in US presidential campaign history, cementing his role as a powerful political ally of Trump. His support has allowed him to play a pivotal role in shaping the Republican administration’s future policy agenda.

The lion’s share of Musk’s donation, $239 million, went to America PAC, a super PAC he established to drive voter turnout for Trump.

Additionally, in late October, Musk contributed $20 million to RBG PAC, a group focused on assuring voters that Trump would oppose a nationwide abortion ban. The PAC, named after the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a staunch advocate for abortion rights, used its funds to sway key voter concerns.

Musk, who also owns the social media platform X, has become a close adviser to Trump’s transition team. He has been tapped, alongside former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, to lead a task force aimed at cutting government spending and reducing regulations.

On Capitol Hill Thursday, Musk and Ramaswamy met with lawmakers crucial to securing the sweeping budget cuts that Trump has requested. The two have called for mass federal workforce reductions, regulatory rollbacks, and the elimination of programs, such as veterans’ healthcare, that no longer have active authorizations.
