ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Chaudhary has said that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has so far recovered Rs33 billion in the fake accounts case against former president Asif Ali Zardari.
In a tweet on Saturday, the information minister said the actual case is of around Rs5,000 billion. He said this shows the level of corruption carried out in the country and how the past rulers plundered the country and Sindh.
In September 2020, an accountability court in Islamabad indicted the former president, his sister Faryal Talpur and other accused in the mega-money laundering reference pertaining to the fake accounts case. Zardari is facing multiple corruption cases that had stemmed from a mega-money laundering scandal, which came into limelight in 2018.
Separately, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has said that the number of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights has been increased significantly on the direction of Prime Minister Imran Khan to facilitate overseas Pakistanis.
In a tweet on Saturday, he said overseas Pakistanis had been facing difficulties due to the schedule of PIA flights for some days. However, he said the issue has been resolved by Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan after detailed consultation with PIA and Civil Aviation Authority. – TLTP
