Nawaz Sharif Pledges to Counter Efforts to Create Political Unrest

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has asserted that any attempt to manufacture a political crisis will be thwarted.

“The people of Pakistan will no longer tolerate disruptions in the country’s path toward progress and development,” the former prime minister stated during a meeting with PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui in Raiwind on Wednesday. Siddiqui briefed him on the performance of the party’s parliamentary members in the Senate.

Nawaz Sharif emphasized the need for a peaceful and prosperous Pakistan, particularly for the younger generation, so they can contribute according to their abilities. “By the grace of Allah, the country is once again stabilizing,” he added.

Reflecting on past economic policies, he remarked that if the developmental initiatives launched in 2013 had continued uninterrupted, Pakistan would not have to rely on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) or seek external financial assistance today. He urged the exposure of elements, both within and outside parliament, who seek to create instability. “These individuals lack the ability to engage in meaningful negotiations or resolve issues through political understanding,” he stated.

Sharif called on PML-N lawmakers to remain active, effectively represent the party, and strengthen their engagement with the public.

He reiterated that as the nation regains stability, there is no room for long marches, sit-ins, or violent protests. He also stressed the importance of exposing those who attempt to create disorder, whether inside or outside parliament.
