KARACHI: Pakistan chasing a target of 135 runs to win with a run rate of 6.75 per over, beat the Kiwis due to aggressive batting by Asif Ali who scored 27 runs of 12 balls, hitting 3 glorious sixes and one boundary, says a report received from Sharjah, Tuesday.
Pakistan scoring 135 for the loss of 5 wickets, toppled the New Zealanders by 5 wickets with 8 balls to go. Muhammad Rizwan scored 33. Sodhi took 2 wickets.
Batting first New Zealand made 134 for the loss of 8 wickets, with Mitchell and Convay scoring 27 runs each and Williamson contributing 25 runs. Haris Rauf was outstanding with the ball and took 4 wickets for 22 runs. Shaheen Shah Afridi, Emad Wasim and Hafeez took 1 wicket each.
In the earlier match South Africa convincingly beat defending Champion West Indies by 8 wickets. Chasing target 0f 144 to win South Africa reached the run chase with 10 balls to go scoring 144 fir the loss of 2 wickets. Aiden Markram made 51 of 26 balls while Dussen scored 43 runs. Batting first West Indues scored 143 for the loss of 8 wickets. Evan’s Lewis made 56 of 37 balls and Pollard scored 26 runs.South African Proties took 3 wickets for 17 runs, Maharaj claimed 2 wickets.
