Among the nine terrorists slain in Bajaur IBO, high value target: ISPR

Nine militants were slain during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Bajaur area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including a high-value target, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced Thursday.

The ISPR said in a statement that the security forces carried out an IBO on the alleged presence of Khawarij on the evening of October 23/24, during which “[own] troops effectively engaged the Khawarij location.”

“Five khawarij, including two suicide bombers and a high-value target khariji ring leader Said Muhammad alias Qureshi Ustad, were sent to hell after [an] intense fire exchange,” the statement continued.

There were also “many weapons, explosives, and ammunition recovered from killed Khawarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces as well as innocent civilians,” according to the statement.

According to the military’s media affairs branch, a sanitization operation was underway to eradicate any remaining terrorists in the region.

“[Pakistan’s] security forces are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country,” it continued.

Through a formal announcement in July, the government named the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as Fitna al Khawarij and ordered all organizations to refer to those responsible for terrorist attacks on Pakistan as khariji, or outcasts.

Attacks against security troops, other law enforcement organizations, and security checkpoints have increased significantly in recent years, especially in Balochistan and KP.

After the TTP pledged to target security personnel and violated a precarious ceasefire agreement with the government in 2022, attacks intensified.

Two terrorists were slain during an IBO in the North Waziristan province of KP earlier this month.

In another event, two clashes in North and South Waziristan resulted in the deaths of 12 militants and the martyrdom of six soldiers.
