KARACHI: On World Teachers’ Day, Orchid School management pays a rich tribute to the services of teachers and their contributions to education are acknowledged and their role and importance for the development of society appreciated. This gracious celebration is followed by Certificate awarding ceremony organized by Medicam group of Companies held on Thursday at Orchard School PECHS branch, Karachi.
Speaking at the event on Teachers’ Day Ms. Rafia Javed Mallah, Registrar Directorate of Private Institutions School Education and Literacy Department, Government of Sindh said that This is very important occasion that pays a tribute to the teachers and tends to resolve many relevant issues regarding their profession and hence we tried to attract young minds to give respect to their teachers but we our society lost its moral Values.
It’s also the prime responsibility of the mothers to play their role for the character building of their children but nowadays I hardly see this responsibility in digital age mothers and when the children are not going well the parents give the whole blame on their teachers. She stressed more on Character building, which she noticed during the stage performance of Orchid school students. It’s the long journey to fill the gaps.
Earlier, before Ms Mallah thought provoking speech, Ms. Kiran Tanveer delivered the welcome address. She said, from the global perspective and economic crisis due to COVID-19 which destabilized many developed economies, to humanitarian disasters, such, the role of teachers has been vital to the socio- conomic uplift and intellectual rebuilding of societies. This Day is held annually on 05th October to celebrate those who work in education all around the globe, and after many months of disruption which saw millions of teachers forced to swap the classroom for zoom lessons due to the COVID-19 pandemic, now is the perfect time to say thank you to staff for keeping learning going.
One of the teachers participating in this event said: “Being a teacher means belonging to the most valuable profession. Wherever communities face hardship, teachers are immediately present on the frontline to help and save the society. Sadly, in our many private Schools teachers’ salary is an unfair wage, our female school teachers are treated unfairly or harassed sometimes.
During COVID-19 teachers have kept the classes going, conducted exams, completed academic sessions, carried out complex standard operating procedures (SOPs) to keep everyone safe from the Pandemic, when schools reopened, they helped their students to cover the syllabus said by Director General, Dr. Mansoob Hussain Siddiqui in his speech.
Zafar Riaz Bari, Director Admin and external affairs Medicam group of Companies laminated the World Teachers’ Day 2021, with the theme, “Teachers at the heart of education recovery”.
At the end of the ceremony Zafar Riaz Bari, Ms. Rafia Javed Mallah, Dr. Mansoob Hussain Siddiqui, Abdul Satar and others awarded certificates and handover mementos among all the four branches of Orchid School teachers to lays special importance of this Day.
