Nazir Hussain Dhoki, a man with honour and dignity who lived a fearless life and whose life and death was for Pakistan People’s Party and his family. Born on March 4th, 1964 in a small town of Khairpur Mirs called Pir Jo Goth, a small village that is under the great influence of Pir Pagarah. This man is an antagonist to PPP, he forbade the slogan of “Jeay Bhutto” and if anyone dares to say Jeay Bhutto he will face huge consequences. My grandfather, Mr Bagh Ali Dhoki was the first one from Pir Jo Goth who stood against the dictatorship of Gen Zia and favoured Shaheed ZA Bhutto and was arrested on July 7th 1977 when he raised his voice against the injustice to Shaheed Bhutto. Unfortunately, he was tortured to death but my dad continued the legacy and raised a slogan of Jeay Bhutto until his breath.
After the death of my grandfather the rest of the family members faced many troubles but they remained steadfast and supported PPP at every cost. At a very young age my father stepped into the world of politics and after years of loyalty and dedication, Shaheed Mohtarma handed over him the office of media cell of the Chairperson of Pakistan People’s Party in Islamabad and that’s where he met Mr Farhatullah Babar, Mr Amjad and his very close friend Captain Wasif.
From an early age I am always listening to the stories of Shaheed Bhutto, Shaheed Bibi, President Zardari, and their children. My father had a strong commitment for them that until his last breath all he was talking about was Shaheed Mohtarma and Chairman. Mr Dhoki never demanded any luxuries or anything else. All he wanted was to be remembered as his passion for Pakistan People’s Party. He was always available at his desk whether it was Eid, New Year or any other holiday. He always said Pakistan People’s Party is his family.
His love and dedication for the Bhutto family cannot be described in words. At my father’s funeral Junaid Jadi sahb said ‘it takes 40 years to become Nazir Dhoki’, As Bibi Aseefa said, they are feeling his absence, too and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said, ‘Nazir Dhoki’s death created a vacuum’, so I guess, Nazir Dhoki is irreplaceable.
At my birth, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto sent me a bottle of honey and my father strictly told my mother, ‘this should be the first food his daughter must take.’ So, I can proudly say the first thing I had was honey which was a gift from Shaheed Mohtarma. Every year on Eid he would visit the Garhi Khuda Bux and offer Eid prayers. He would also visit Garhi Khuda Bux on every 4th April and 27 December. I remember years ago I was talking to him and I called the Chairman by his name in front of my father and he scolded me he said, ‘He is not your age fellow neither is he your junior, never dare to call him by his name, always refer to him as Chairman’. Once he met President Zardari Sahb and he came home happily and showed me the video talking nonstop about their chat. To him the Bhutto family and PPP were before everything else.
When Abu was diagnosed with Lung Cancer 4th stage, he was immediately rushed to the GIMS at the orders of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Many people asked him to change the hospital and shift to foreign or in Karachi for treatment but my father denied and told them, ‘I am getting the best treatment in this hospital (GIMS) at the orders of my Chairman.’ No doubt, the Chairman and Pakistan People’s Party did their best to save his life but God has other plans, we are really thankful to President Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Bibi Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, and all the members of Pakistan People’s Party for being so supportive and caring.
We will never forget their commitment and we would dedicate our whole life for this family.
