PA Pays Tribute to Martyrs and Soldiers on Defence Day

On Friday, the Sindh Assembly paid rich tributes to Pakistan’s armed forces and the families of martyrs in a special session to commemorate Defence Day. The assembly expressed deep gratitude for their sacrifices in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and integrity.

During a brief session attended by 35 treasury members and 27 opposition lawmakers, a unanimous joint resolution was passed. Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Zia Lanjar tabled the resolution, which honored the armed forces’ historic sacrifices, particularly during the 1965 war and their ongoing efforts in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Leader of the Opposition, Ali Khurshidi, and other lawmakers also paid glowing tributes to the martyrs. Jamaat-i-Islami member Muhammad Farooq emphasized the unity displayed on Defence Day, calling for similar national cohesion throughout the year.

A change-of-guards ceremony was held at Quaid-i-Azam’s mausoleum, where Pakistan Air Force cadets, including 13 women, took over duties. Air Marshal Shehriyar Khan inspected the parade.

At a Defence Day event held at Governor House, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori expressed solidarity with the armed forces, martyrs, and veterans, underscoring national unity in the face of adversarial forces. Families of the martyrs were honored with a red-carpet welcome and special recognition during the event.
