ABU DHABI (UAE): The Pakistan Business Professional Council (PBPC) Abu Dhabi held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry recently. It was attended by a large majority of its corporate and individual members, says a Press release.
Pakistan Ambassador to the UAE Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, chaired the AGM. The Chairman gave his opening remarks. He addressed the members emphasizing to promote the trade, commerce and investment between Pakistan and the UAE. In this regard, he appreciated the role of the Council and efforts made by the Executive Board of the Council under the leadership of its President Dr. S. Qaiser Anis.
In addition, the Ambassador conveyed his message to all business community and professionals in UAE to join the PBPC platform to network and enhance their resources that is dynamically serving Pakistan Community in UAE since last 20 years.
President of the Council, Dr S. Qaiser Anis presented the report of Council’s accomplishments and highlighted the significant events and activities conducted during 2022-2024 period, with 80 activities in 2022, 85 activities in 2023 and 66 activities in 2024. He gave history of the Council since its inception in 2004 as the Council is going to celebrate 20 years of its effective presence in the UAE on 9th November 2024, playing an active role for serving the UAE and Pakistani community in the UAE. He thanked the Council’s Board members for their teamwork and the corporate and individual professional members for their continuous support and encouragement.
Further, Dr S. Qaiser thanked the Chairman the Ambassador for his guidance, cooperation, and support. He said the Council will continue to work under the Chairmanship of the Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi to increase the membership and for the promotion of trade, commerce, and investment in Pakistan. Afaq Ahmed, Deputy Head of Mission and Ali Zeb Khan, Commercial Counsellor of Dubai Consulate also attended the meeting and addressed the meeting.
The Chairman and Dr. Qaiser Anis also conveyed special thanks to the Council’s Patron-in-Chief Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan on behalf of all members of the Council for his esteemed patronage, guidance, and kind support since the 2005.
Dr. Qaiser Anis thanked the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce for their continuous guidance and support, to government entities including the Ministry of Economy, the Department of Economic Development, and the State Bank of Pakistan with which the council worked for conducting various events and webinars successfully.
He also conveyed that considering the business councils working with Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD), Dubai and Sharjah business councils, and it is an excellent platform and opportunity for networking and serving to our country and to UAE.
The Office Bearers of the Council presented reports on the activities of their respective areas – VP Legal & Coordination Badar Uz Zaman Ahmed and VP Programme M. Iqbal Nasim. The Audited Financial Statements of the Council for the year ended 31 December 2022 and 2023 with the External Auditor’s Reports were also presented and approved by the members.
The members of the Council have elected the following Executive Board members for the next two-year term as recommended by the Nomination Committee of the Council and unanimously voted by the Members: Anjum Rashid, Danial Hashmi, Kamran Atif, Muhammad Iqbal Nasim, Dr. Muhammad Farhan, Dr. Musa Shaikh, Mustajab Ahmad, Rizwan Ahmed Viqar, Sabahat Imran, Syed Ijaz Hussain Bukhari.
The Members of the Council have approved the appointment of Dr. Syed Qaiser Anis as Honorary Vice Chairman of the Council as recommended by Nominating Committee.
The AGM appealed to all members of the Pakistani Community (Businessmen and Professionals) to stand together under the umbrella of the Council to strengthen the relations with the UAE authorities, other communities, and interaction between themselves and work together for Pakistan with strict compliance of UAE laws
Lastly, Dr. Qaiser congratulated the newly elected Executive Board for the term 2024-2026, and thanked all past Chairmen, all the past board members, corporate members and members due to them the reason of being the one of the progressive councils in the UAE.
