AJMAN (UAE): Pakistan Overseas Community Global (POCG) recently organized a vibrant and well-attended Azadi Mela in Ajman, UAE, celebrating Pakistani independence and fostering community ties among expatriates.
The event, which lasted for about five hours, featured a diverse range of activities including tape ball cricket matches, various stalls, and children’s games, making it an entertaining experience for all attendees. Notable participants included POCG UAE President Syed Saleem, Gulf Region President Zaheer Gujjar, President Overseas Mian Tariq, Pakistan Consul General Hussain Muhammad, and renowned Pakistani analyst Aftab Iqbal.
A highlight of the event was the POC cricket tournament, featuring four teams. The final match, a thrilling contest between Pakistan Overseas and Media Influencers, saw the Media Influencers clinch victory on the last ball.
Famous businessman Bu Abdullah, the chief guest, enjoyed the fair and commended the POC Global team for organizing such a successful event. The Mela was well-attended by the Pakistani community in the UAE, with a significant presence of women and children. Attendees were treated to melodious performances by singers, who celebrated Pakistan’s independence through national songs.
The event also included a lottery, with seven Umrah packages provided by Abu Faisal Auto. Various community leaders and sponsors, including representatives from Zamzam Electronics, distributed prizes to the winning team and attendees.
POC President Syed Saleem expressed gratitude to the community for their participation and assured that such events would continue annually. POC Overseas President Mian Tariq personally attended and congratulated the organizing team and the winning cricket team captain, famous TikToker Fahad Asad.
A unique aspect of the event was the participation of analyst Aftab Iqbal and Consul General Hussain Muhammad as cricket players, which was thoroughly enjoyed by spectators.
The successful organization of the Azadi Mela was credited to YIS Event Management, led by Chairman Yasir Siddique, who sponsored the fair with various stalls and children’s games.
This Azadi Mela stands as a testament to the vibrant Pakistani community in the UAE and their commitment to celebrating their cultural heritage while fostering strong community bonds.
