Pakistan Secures Two More Medals at Asian Road Cycling Championships

KARACHI: Pakistani cyclists continued their impressive performance at the Asian Road Cycling Championships in Thailand, bagging two more medals on Wednesday.

Rabia Gharib secured gold in the 50+ age category of the women’s masters road race, completing the 42.8 km race in 1 hour, 18 minutes, and 21 seconds. She was the only participant in her age group to finish the race, earning the top honour.

Meanwhile, Zainab Rizwan claimed bronze in the 40-44 age category, finishing in 1 hour, 15 minutes, and 13 seconds. This marks her second bronze of the championship, following an earlier podium finish in the individual time trial (ITT) event for her category.

Rabia had also previously secured silver in the ITT event, further adding to Pakistan’s medal tally.

Earlier in the tournament, Ali Illyas made history by winning gold in the men’s masters ITT event, while finishing 15th in the men’s elite competition.

Pakistan’s strong performance at the championship highlights the growing potential of the country’s cycling talent on the international stage.
